  • Behringer ECM8000 microphone with windscreen, case, and microphone clip
  • Microphone characterization report ( "Basic+" sample/ "Premium+" sample) with individually measured on-axis (0°) frequency response
  • "Premium" calibrated microphones will also include polar response, sensitivity, and noise floor
  • "Basic-Plus" and "Premium-Plus" microphones include frequency response curves at 45° and 90° angles of incidence
  • Mini-CD with frequency response data (.FRD format) and polar response data (Excel and .CSV formats, "Premium" calibrated microphones only)

Prices start at $85 plus shipping for "Basic" calibrated microphones. A feature/price matrix is shown below for the four microphone options we offer.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Why should I buy a calibrated ECM8000?
The off-the shelf Behriger ECM8000 microphones are not flat from 20Hz to 20 kHz and they tend to vary wildly from unit-to-unit. You could be lucky and wind up with a ECM8000 with a relatively flat 20 Hz to 20 kHz response.

Then again, you might wind up with a unit that has a more unusual frequency response. Without a calibration file you have no way of knowing, and the generic calibration files you can find on the internet may or may not apply to your mic.

You can find more information here.

  • Which mic should I get?
The right microphone for you will depend on your specific needs. The Basic or Basic+ models will meet most amateur or semi-pro needs but will but the Premium models offer sensitivity, noise floor, and polar response data that may be useful for certain measurements. We can offer these general guidelines:

    • For basic loudspeaker measurements only: Basic
    • For room/car acoustics measurements only: Basic+
    • For absolute SPL measurements: Premium/Premium+
    • For measurements where polar response is required: Premium/Premium+
    • For professional/research use where complete mic characteristics need to be quantified: Premium+

Feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions.

  • Do you have any USB/Firewire audio interface recommendations?
There are any number of interfaces that should work fine with your PC or Mac. We recommend models from Presonus, M-Audio or E-Mu that you can purchase through our Amazon store.

  • Do you ship internationally?
Generally the answer is "yes" and international shipping typically costs $30 to $40 for sending one unit via International Priority Mail (6-10 days). You can see shipping cost estimates for select countries here. If your country is not on this list, please contact us for a shipping estimate.

We are frequently asked to declare a low value on the package to reduce customs duty. We are legally bound to declare the true value of the package - however, the replacement value for the microphone is $50 (or lower at certain times) to the declared value won't be the full value you pay for the calibration.

  • Do your Behringer ECM8000 calibrations meet professional standards?
The equipment we use to calibrate the Behringer mics meet ANSI Type 1 and IEC Class 1 standards for professional measurement equipment. Our equipment is evaluated by a third-party NIST/NVLAP accredited laboratory on a regular basis. Our measurement methodology is consistent with the IEC 60268 "substitution method" for characterizing microphone frequency response. Our measurement lab is not accredited by NVLAP, ANSI or ISO.

  • Can I place bulk orders?
Contact us directly - we understand that some buyers, particularly overseas buyers, may want to place bulk or group orders to save on shipping costs. We are willing to work with you.

  • If you don't have any mics in stock, can I send you my ECM8000 and just pay the difference for the full workout?
No, the discounted pricing is offered for only for our own stock. If you need your own ECM8000 measured or you wish to purchase an ECM8000 and send it to us, the microphone measurement service will be subject to our normal pricing (starting at $55 for basic frequency response measurements).

  • I own a slot-loading Macintosh and I can't use mini-CDs - what can I do?
When you place your order, contact us directly and we'll send a full-sized CD with your order.

  • Can we pre-order microphone if they are not in stock?
Yes, you may place an order if we are out of stock and we will fill the order on a first-come/first-served basis. We will try to give you an estimate of the expected delivery time and you may cancel your order for a full refund at any time.

  • What about the warranty?
We will honor the one-year Behringer warranty. Contact us to arrange a return if you have a problem with your microphone.
